If you save your aluminum cans to be recycled, should you smash them first?


I'm not interested in being paid.... Also, is it better to take your cans to a recycling center, or just put them in the blue recycle bin?

If your state has a redemption program where you get cash for bottle and can deposits, don't not crush the cans. Most of these centers have machines that spin the cans and read the barcode for redemption.
If money is not the object here you should crush the cans. This way the recycle bin won't fill up as quickly and you will have to make less trips to the redemption center, saving gas. Or if they go in the blue bin, more will fit and your recycling will take up less space in the garbage truck.

What can you put on aluminum to make it permanently black?


hey, my dad and i are working on painting our front door and the current piece of aluminum in front of it wont go with the new color. it doesnt look like it can be changed out so we are wondering, other than spray paint, what can you put on aluminum to make it turn permanently black. my dad mentioned gun blue, but that only works on steel. thanks

You could take it to someone that powder coats metals.
