Does a centrifugal clutch go on the engine or the rear axel?
I have a 4 hp snowblower engine with a belt drive attachment on it's axel. I was wondering this because a go kart site has clutches with 10-12 teeth, which smaller sprockets are suppose to go on the axel, in order to generate more speed. If a clutch goes on the engine, how do I take this piece off. Lastly, how much better is chain drive than belt drive?
First off ; the centrifugal clutch goes on the engine output shaft, normally has set screws to attach it. The smaller gear goes onto the clutch and the larger onto the drive wheels this give you a speed reduction but an increase in torque, at the drive wheel. A chane drive is used because there is less possibility for slippage in the drive train.

Do you have to pull the engine to replace the clutch on a 1991 ford escort GT?
I was told that in order to replace the clutch, you must pull the engine and it would be a HUGE task. Please help
