What modifications would be needed to run an intel mobile cpu on a desktop system?


I have a few old 478 socket mobos laying around and have 6 or 7 laptop cpu's and they are all socket 478.
what is the difference in mounting a mobile (has larger L2 cache) cpu in a desktop board? will I be able to, as long as the heatsink is shimmed to contact the die? what about auto seek voltage and overclocking?

It may not be doable, but that is the question, isn't it?

Although they are very similar very few mobile cpus are socket 478. They are normally socket 479. If they are in fact 478 they will work in almost any 478 board that supports the same front bus speed as the cpu, BUT mobile cpu's have locked multipiers I have a P4 3.06 mobile cpu that will only run at 1.8 ghz in a desktop board. There are mobile on desktop boards, I have an aopen desktop that has a dual core mobile cpu and laptop memory. Mobile on desktop technology has never really been mainstream but there were several boards made.

How do I properly level a pedestal sink and get the back of basin flush to the wall?


I am trying to level a pedestal sink and get the back of the basin to be flush against the wall, or close to it. Our house is old so the wall and floor are not perfectly perpendicular plus the pedestal sink tolerances are not that great. How should I go about doing this? If I use the little rubber tabs to level the basin side to side, I would need to stack an additional 5 rubber tabs, one on top of the other at the front of the basin, to get the back of the basin to come close to the wall. I am reluctant to do this since I can only assume that these rubber tabs will collapse with time. So, should I shim the bottom of the pedestal or shim between the pedestal and basin? If so what sort of shim do I use. Also, this is the type of pedestal sink that the weight of the sink is supported by the pedestal and the wall mount is only there to keep the basin from tipping if leaned on. Any help is much appreciated.

They make wood shims . or you can make your own from wood or roofing material.
