Storm Rear

Why don't people clear the snow off their cars so they can see out of their windows?
Ok, it's the first major snowstorm in the NYC/Tri-State area, and it NEVER fails... people taking off into the storm (it's still coming down heavy as I type this) barely clearing their windshields enough to see out of, leaving snow covering the side and rear windows. What kind of mentality is that?

Are surge protectors worth the money when it comes to TVs?
I recently bought a new 56" Rear Projection JVC TV and was wondering the benefits of getting a surge protector for it or if it would even make a difference. I live in AZ so we don't get too much in the way of storms but for a month or two in the summer we do get some lightning and the occasional power outage.
The surge protector serves two purposes. One, it prevents the tv from being fried in event of a power surge, lightning or otherwise, and number two it also helps to clean up any interferance that normally occompanies standard ac power and this lengthens the life of the tv set and its internal components.
