Urethane Bumper
Is it OK to use an Acrylic Lacquer Clear coat over a Urethane Base Coat? Or will it lift/peel/bubble?
I had to get a different hood and bumper after having a little accident. The car is red and the hood and bumper are white. I need to sand down the parts and paint them. The website I am going to get my paint from it http://www.automotivetouchup.com and I guess it is ok to use lacquer over urethane...because that is all they have. But can anyone tell me if that is REALLY ok or not? if you can help me out...thanks a lot.
Lacquer clear works great over urethane base coat.We tried that as an emergency while working on used cars years ago.It gave excellent results and lasts as well as anything else.We still do that at times because the lacquer clear,when wet sanded and highly polished,looks and lasts great.It's also much cheaper.

scratches on my bumper?
i have a scratch on my bumper because some dumass duno how to park. but its not VERY deep but its deep, it reaches the black part (the urethane).
-i just want to know what i should do, shud i repaint it or what?
-would deep scratches like that be bad for my car, like for instance make the bumper less effective? (since theres a scratch im thinking how it would be easier to crack?)
-and since the bumper is just plastic, it wont have any long term negative results, (like how metal gets rusted etc)?
i just wanna be prepared, i just got this car not too long ago so i dunt know much.

1) no it will not make it break easier
2) no, no long lasting effects
3) not really an easy fix, body shop will jsut replace the bumper cover.
4) the plastic part is NOT your bumper, your bumper is a large steel bar behind the plastic part.
